Eco-Charges

Some items can’t go with general rubbish. Fridges need their gas recovered, upholstered seating has to be incinerated under the POPs rules, and electricals go to a WEEE-licensed recycler. The eco-charge covers that route and is added to the load price. Where two figures are shown, the second is for the larger size.

A two-seater sofa on its own, for example, is £45 + £70 = £115.

How it works

How much does rubbish removal cost in London?

We price by load: the space your rubbish takes up in the lorry, within the weight limit for that load size. The price includes the loading time shown on each load, the drive to a licensed transfer station and the disposal fees there – there’s nothing to add for the trip or the tip.

Send us a few photos on WhatsApp and we’ll come back with a fixed price before we arrive. If on the day there’s clearly more than the photos showed, the crew tells you the new load size and price before loading anything.

Heavy materials such as bricks, rubble and soil reach the weight limit long before the space limit, so they are priced on weight – see rubble collection. Skips, grab lorries and regular business collections are quoted separately from a photo or a quick site visit.

A sofa is priced as a load plus the sofa eco-charge shown above: a two-seater on its own starts from £115 (£45 plus a £70 eco-charge), and corner sofas and other larger sofas from £195. The eco-charge covers incineration, which the POPs rules require for upholstered seating. Collected with other items, the sofa shares the load price.

No. We are responsible for covering these costs and include them in the final cost.

Each load includes the loading time shown above, from 5 min for a single item to 90 min for the largest load. If access is difficult and we need to stay longer, extra time is £10 for every additional 10 minutes. However, this rarely happens.

Only the items listed under eco-charges: fridges and freezers, mattresses, sofas, tyres, electricals and large appliances. Their disposal routes cost more because of the rules they fall under. We don’t collect hazardous waste such as paint, chemicals, oils or asbestos.
