Plastics are now an environmental concern on a global scale due to the amount of waste they produce each year. Three-quarters of the 4.9 million metric tonnes of plastics that are put on the market in the UK each year end up as waste. As a result, the UK is a significant contributor to the plastic waste problem.
Many companies generate commercial plastic waste as a byproduct of manufacturing or just from regular plastic packaging use. Whilst the creation of this waste is frequently unavoidable, landfilling it is not. Today, the vast majority of plastic waste can be recycled, and an increasing number of businesses are choosing to use recycled plastics in their products.
By setting up a routine disposal of all of your commercial waste and sorting it for you, Any London Waste can help your company address the pollution plastic has caused. We understand that you would rather spend your time and the time of your employees on what your company does best and may not have time for recycling management. As a result, we will visit your location and work with you to develop a plan for disposing of your plastic recycling as well as collecting all of your other commercial waste.
The UK government has pledged to cut plastic waste, and kerbside collections accept plastic bottles, but few places accept the many other kinds of plastic packaging used for almost everything we buy. Business waste and recycling are handled differently from household collections, so many companies use a waste management firm that can sort, remove and dispose of all their waste, including plastic for recycling.
Sending no waste to landfill is an important goal for many businesses. Customers like to see the progress you make, and it is good for the environment too. Because there will always be new challenges, sustainability is better seen as a journey than a final destination.

During recycling, plastic waste is collected and sorted, then melted down and turned into new materials. Most plastics are first melted into pellets, which are then used to make denser items such as chairs and tables. Most plastic is not biodegradable, so it does not break down naturally over time.
Engineers have been working on better alternatives, and there are more options now. Even so, most of the food we buy from supermarkets is still packaged in plastic, and there is a long way to go before all businesses use biodegradable plastics.
Because there are so many kinds of plastic, households and businesses often find it hard to know how to recycle it. Councils have different rules about which plastics they collect at the kerbside, and most of the attention goes on bottles. That is only part of the story, as there are over 50 other varieties of plastic.
Unlike glass, plastic cannot simply be melted down and made into the same material again. Just as oil and water separate, plastics of different strengths separate when they are melted together. That makes plastic harder to recycle, and it explains why councils have different rules.
